Crafting Stories with Feeling

Like a lot of boys growing up in rural Kentucky in the 80ā€™s all I wanted to do was play basketball.  Iā€™d be outside for hours pretending I was a Kentucky Wildcat like Kenny Walker or Rex Chapman.

But when my dad brought home our families first video camera, it not only changed the way I would remember my childhood but also marked a fundamental shift in how I would experience the rest of my life.

During high school, I took a deep dive into documenting my experiences with friends, playing music, and traveling. This solidified my love for visual storytelling. I found so much joy and expression in photography, eventually leading me to pursue it in college.

At University of Louisville I began to refine my skills and explore new subjects, including my fascination with railroads. This fascination eventually led me to a career with the railroad, where I honed my skills as a documentary photographer, capturing my experiences through both photos and video (NEAR Zine). My work during this time showcases my ability to blend technical skill with narrative storytelling that captured the unique beauty of the railroad industry.

Returning to school later in life allowed me to further develop my skills in visual storytelling within a more academic setting. Classes like Social Media Marketing, Multimedia Storytelling, and Photojournalism Reporting at Indiana University Southeast have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of modern marketing and have enabling me to create compelling visual narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

My lifelong passion, combined with my education, has prepared me to work in the creative industry, where I can continue telling stories and building relationships with clients to produce media that meets their needs. I am excited to leverage these skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully to the field.
